Welcome!
Welcome to the official blog of Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson, PC. We hope that this initial entry is followed by many others in the coming weeks, months and years. Our office consists of nine attorneys in New York City who specialize in personal injury. Specifically, we seek to achieve compensation for individuals suffering from post-9/11 illnesses. Prior to the 9/11 attacks, we represented New York City firefighters who had been injured on the job. After the tragic attacks of September 11th, we evolved our practice to include obtaining proper compensation from the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund.
This fund was closed in June of 2004, but was reopened as the James Zadroga Bill in January of 2011. This bill, named after one of our former clients, also created the World Trade Center Health Program, which guarantees that those suffering from post-9/11 illnesses continue to receive health benefits through at least 2015. Each week, we will post updates and news pertaining to these illnesses and the James Zadroga Bill, as well as offer advice on what to do if you are currently experiencing cancers or other illnesses as a result of exposure to chemicals at Ground Zero.
In our impending blog entries, we plan to tell you a little more about ourselves and pass on as much knowledge as we can about 9/11 victim compensation and James Zadroga Act benefits. Please check back on this blog or visit our Facebook, LinkedIn, and/or Twitter pages for weekly updates. And if you or someone you love is suffering from a post-9/11 illness or is curious about benefits from the James Zadroga Act, please contact our personal injury attorneys in New York, NY to determine eligibility for WTC compensation or to begin the application process for James Zadroga Act benefits.
