Lawsuit Filed After New York Limousine Accident

One of the survivors of a deadly limousine accident on Long Island earlier this summer has filed a civil lawsuit for damages related to her injuries.

On July 18, a pickup truck reportedly struck the limo at an intersection along Route 48 in Cutchogue. A total of eight women and the driver were in the vehicle after they departed a celebratory bachelorette party held in the region’s wine country. Four of them were killed — with three dying at the scene — and the five others, including one survivor, were seriously injured in the crash.

The survivor who filed suit has reportedly undergone multiple surgeries for injuries that include a damaged leg and broken jaw. She has indicated that she is also unable to attend classes for her graduate program and has suffered other emotional difficulties since the crash occurred. The claim is for unspecified damages and names the pickup driver, who has pled not guilty to a misdemeanor charge for driving while intoxicated.  

The lawsuit also names the company co-owned by the driver of the pickup, the limo driver who survived the crash (but also sustained injuries) and the company for which the limo driver works. The plaintiff’s attorney is also looking closely at how a dangerous roadway design may have played a role in the crash, so there may be further parties named in the suit.
